In addition to announcing the Surface Pro 9, Microsoft also announced two other line of devices, namely the Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Studio 2+ which of course are the successors of the previous generation, now for the Surface Pro 9 specifications, we have discussed them in a separate article that you can see on page following.
In general, what’s interesting about the Surface Pro 9 is the presence of two different processor variants, namely Intel and ARM, and if previously there were Surface Pro 8 and Surface Pro X (for the ARM variant), now the two lines are combined into Surface Pro 9.
Okay, enough with Surface Pro 9, let’s talk about Surface Laptop 5, what’s new in this device?, let’s see.
- New color variant: green (Sage)
- Dolby Vision IQ support
- 12th Gen Intel processors with the new architecture consisting of efficiency and performance cores
- Newer LPDDR5X memory
- Improved security with Windows 11 Secure-core PC standard
- Bluetooth 5.1
- Improved battery life
- Thunderbolt 4 and USB 4 support
Now that’s the new thing on the device, starting from new color variants, Dolby Vision support, faster and more power efficient LPDDR5X, the latest Intel Processor version, to Thunderbolt 4 and USB 4 support.
However, just like the Surface Pro 9, the shape of the Surface Laptop 5 unfortunately hasn’t changed much from its predecessor, the Surface Laptop 4, where this laptop still carries a 13.5-inch size with the following chassis specifications (308 x 223 x 14.5 mm, 1.27 kg). ) and a 15-inch (340 x 244 x 14.7 mm, 1.56 kg) size variant.

Well, unfortunately, the price of this device is still unknown, but it is likely that it will carry the same price as the previous generation, namely for the base model around $1,000 for the 13-inch variant, and $1,300 for the 15-inch variant.
But of course it can change depending on Microsoft policy, so let’s just wait guys.
