A few days ago, Microsoft announced that WebView2 is generally available for desktop windows apps or what we usually know as UWP. Unlike WebView which is based on EdgeHTML, WebView 2 is now based on Chromium.
Well the development of WebView to WebView2 is actually enough long doneit has even been announced since 2020 even though it was finally released yesterday and was launched by Microsoft.
This little information about WebView2, with WebView2, it will be possible on developer to do embed content into an application, which will replace the EdgeHTML-based WebView which as we know has been abandoned by Microsoft with the death of Microsoft Edge Legacy.
With WebView2 too, since it’s already Chromium based, it will provide compatibility, support and modern features which is better than before, and interestingly, because WebView2 is already part of Windows 11 and Windows 10, developer can use WebView2 to create lighter applications and even another advantage is being able to control support for older versions of Windows, not just Windows 10, because reportedly, developer can also reach more users, including Windows 7 and 8.
Well, you can learn detailed information on the Microsoft page following.
Are you a developer? have you developed Apps with WebView2? Comment below guys.
