Since Windows 11 22H2, Microsoft made Windows Terminal a default command line in Windows 11, where even when we open ‘cmd’ or Windows Powershell, what will open is Windows Terminal first.

This is actually a good thing, but I find that sometimes, Windows Terminal opens longer than classic Command Prompt or Powershell. Then can you set the default command line in Windows 11 so it doesn’t become a Windows terminal? Of course you can, guys, and here are the short steps.

Step 1. First, please enter Settings > Privacy & security > For developers.

Step 2. Then on the part Thank you change from ‘Let Windows decide’ Becomes ‘Windows console hosts’.

Done, now when you type ‘cmd’ in the Run Command or Start Menu, what opens is the Command Prompt via Windows Console Host and open Windows Terminal again.

So please try it guys, good luck and hopefully useful.
