Through update 23481 for Insider users a few days ago, Microsoft removed a number of items in Options folder in the Windows 11 File Explorer, and it didn’t take long, there were a number of users who were against Microsoft’s policy of removing the item because it was still needed by users.

Now regarding this, recently through the release of Windows 11 Insider Dev Build 23486, Microsoft revealed that they cancel to delete a number of these items, of course this is because there are quite a lot feedback from users. Here’s Microsoft’s official statement.

"Thank you to all the Windows Insiders who gave us feedback on the Folder Options changes in File Explorer that removed a handful of old settings in Build 23481. We’ve rolled back this change. As is normal for the Dev Channel, we will often try things out and get feedback and adjust based on the feedback we receive."

With this information, of course those of you who previously didn’t like Microsoft’s policies can breathe easier, because a number of the options below will not be removed from Folder Options.

  • Hide Folder Merge conflicts.
  • Always show icons, never thumbnails.
  • Display file icon on thumbnails.
  • Display file type information on Folder tips.
  • Hide protected OS files.
  • Show drive letters.
  • Show popup description for Folder and Desktop items.
  • Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color.
  • Use sharing wizard.

What do you think about this? Comment below guys and give your opinion.
