Even though Google Chrome still provides update support for several months after Microsoft officially stopped their support for the Windows 7 OS, in fact Google Chrome’s support has ended.

Starting with Google Chrome 110 which will be rolling out in the next few weeks, this version officially doesn’t support Windows 7, so in other words, Windows 7 users won’t get any more updates after Google Chrome 109.

Google Chrome 110 itself is projected to be released on February 7, 2023where even besides Windows 7, Windows 8.1 also doesn’t get this update.

“Chrome 109 is the last version of Chrome that will support Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 R2. Chrome 110 (tentatively scheduled for release on February 7th, 2023) is the first version of Chrome that requires Windows 10 or later. You’ll need to ensure your device is running Windows 10 or later to continue receiving future Chrome releases. This matches Microsoft’s end of support for Windows 7 ESU and Windows 8.1 extended support on January 10th, 2023,” Says Google.

With this, Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users are expected to immediately upgrade to Windows 10 or Windows 11, bearing in mind that the absence of support from the Google Chrome browser will open a security hole that could harm user data.

Older Versions of Chrome Can Still Be Used, But…

Google explained that the old version of Google Chrome can still be used by users, but there will be no further updates released for users of the Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 operating systems.

Even with that, Google also recommends users to immediately switch to the latest Windows version.

So are you still using Google Chrome on both OS? comment below guys.
