As we already know, PowerToys 0.64.0 released by presenting one of the features that I think is very useful, namely hosts file editor, where for those of you who often edit and modify host files, now you can just use the PowerToys application and don’t need to make modifications manually via directory C:WindowsSystem32driversetc as usual.
Now regarding this, on this occasion WinPoin will briefly summarize the steps on How to Edit Hosts Files with Microsoft PowerToys, and maybe you can try it yourself at home guys. Here are the steps.
Step 1. First make sure you have used PowerToys 0.64.0 or later, here I use PowerToys 0.64.1.

Step 2. Next open PowerToys as Administrator and then click on Hosts File Editor available in the Sidebar.
Then click Launch Hosts File Editor.
Next Hosts File Editor will open and please click on it Acceptif it doesn’t open, it’s because you haven’t opened PowerToys with Administrator access.
Step 4. Next to add entries new, click New entry and enter the configuration you want, for example as follows:
Click Add, and please try it, here I configured where the winpoin.com domain will be directed to my personal blog at blogsayugi.com.
Okay let’s try it, to try it you can ping the Command Prompt with the command ping winpoin.com and the result without changes should be like the following:
C:WindowsSystem32>ping winpoin.com Pinging winpoin.com [184.108.40.206] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 220.127.116.11: bytes=32 time=19ms TTL=56 Reply from 18.104.22.168: bytes=32 time=20ms TTL=56 Reply from 22.214.171.124: bytes=32 time=20ms TTL=56 Reply from 126.96.36.199: bytes=32 time=19ms TTL=56
But after we change and configure, the result will be as follows:
C:WindowsSystem32>ping winpoin.com Pinging winpoin.com [188.8.131.52] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 184.108.40.206: bytes=32 time=17ms TTL=58 Reply from 220.127.116.11: bytes=32 time=17ms TTL=58 Reply from 18.104.22.168: bytes=32 time=18ms TTL=58 Reply from 22.214.171.124: bytes=32 time=18ms TTL=58
It appears that the IP has changed and the server has been redirected to a different address.
On page Hosts File Editor itself, we can do PING and to delete it we can right click on the configuration we want to have and click Delete.
So, please try it guys, with this step, we can also block a number of Windows 10 and Windows 11 telemetry and even use it so that pirated applications are not blacklisted, of course as long as the configurations are applied correctly and are appropriate, please experiment and I hope this article is useful.
And what do you think about this tool? Do you like it? or do you prefer the old way? comment below guys.
