Microsoft Releases Windows 11 Insider Dev Build 23506

Today there is a new update for you Windows 11 Insider Dev Channel users, where Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Dev Build 23506 for all Insider Dev users, in build Recently, a number of new features have been introduced, some of which include improvements Windows Hello and increased security. Here we discuss.

The first is an increase passwordless experience with Windows Hello for Business, where Windows now provides the option of strong, phishing-resistant credentials and helps users move into the passwordless era.

This improvement is certainly not for everyone and only users who are connected to an AAD account can get this experience, for more detailed information you can see on the page following.

Additionally, starting in Windows 11 22H2, Microsoft is adding improvements to phishing protections in Microsoft Defender Smartscreens, where this improvement is meant to help protect passwords on user accounts school or work from phishing and the use of unsafe sites and applications.

You can find this option in Windows Security > App & Browser Control > Reputation-based protection > Phishing protection.

The third is an increase in local file sharing whereby this upgrade includes updates to windows share windows with a new search box like in the following image.

Some of the other changes include local file sharing these include the following:

• We have redesigned the Windows share window to better match the Windows 11 design principles.
• Everyone will now be able to email their files through Outlook directly within the Windows share window. Just click on the Outlook icon under the “Share using” section of the Windows share window.
• The Windows share window now has a search box so you can now search for contacts across Outlook to share a file and the Windows share window will now display 8-10 suggested contacts to quickly share to – including emailing yourself a file.
• Instead of a dropdown, you will see a button to turn on nearby sharing.
• For nearby sharing, you will find your own PCs at the top of discovered devices under “Nearby Share”.
• Files will share faster from one PC to another using Wi-Fi Direct.
• And we’ve added “Share” to the context menu in File Explorer in addition to having the share icon at the top of the context menu.

New Outlook As Default Inbox App

After all this time, Microsoft has finally introduced Outlook for Windows Preview which will now run as the default inbox application in Windows 11.

The appearance itself is like in the picture above, where this Outlook application is certainly better than the previous inbox application.

In addition, in the OOBE or Out of Box Experiences section, Microsoft has added a number of new experiences with conditions as listed below.

• If you choose ‘Development Intent’ within the ‘Let’s Customize Your Experience’ page during OOBE, Dev Home will be automatically launched on your device after logging in and reaching the desktop for the first time after OOBE setup.
• If you choose ‘Development Intent’ within the ‘Let’s Customize Your Experience’ page during OOBE, the Get Started app will be automatically launched on your device after logging in and reaching the desktop for the first time after OOBE setup. The Get Started app will show you a personalized flow that will help you learn more about Dev Home and give you the opportunity to open Dev Home.
• If you choose to ‘Restore’ your device during OOBE, the Get Started app will be automatically launched on your device after you log into your device for the second time after completing OOBE. The Get Started app will show you a personalized flow that will help you learn about key apps and settings, tell you that Windows has been restored on your device and show you how to access your restored apps on the Start menu or taskbar.

On the Settings page, Microsoft also added Auto Color Management (ACM) Expansionwhich is very useful for users to get accurate colors on the device SDR Displays. To activate ACM, the user can enter Settings > Display > Advanced displayand then enable Automatically manage color for apps.

For this option, you must at least fulfill a number requirements as in the following list, so basically this option is not present for all users.

• WDDM driver version 3.0 or greater
• Supported GPUs:
  • AMD:
    • AMD RX 400 Series or later
    • AMD Ryzen processors with Radeon Graphics
  • Intel
    • Integrated: Intel 12th Gen (Alder Lake) or later
    • Discrete: Intel DG1 or later
  • NVIDIA:
    • NVIDIA GTX 10xx or later (Pascal+)
  • There are no hard requirements on the display or connection – ACM can provide benefits even on 8-bit sRGB panels. However, we strongly recommend ACM devices to have panels with a wider-than-sRGB gamut, and optionally 10-bits per color channel or greater.

And besides the improvements listed above, this build also brings a number of improvements that were present in build 23493, including new 3D Emoji, Windows Copilot, and several other things.

Basically, the improvements presented in this build are not intended for all users, but of course if you haven’t previously received the changes presented in Windows 11 Insider Dev Build 23493, you really have to update your system to this build to get a number of these changes.
