Apart from releasing Windows 11 Insider Canary Build 25330 which includes a number of improvements including improvements to the Microsoft Store, Microsoft this week also released a new build for Windows Insider Dev Channel users, where the build presented is Build 23424.

In Builds 23424 this itself, there are a number of improvements that are also presented, one of which is the presence of a three-column display in the Widget which WinPoin has previously announced.

In addition, now Windows 11 will bring Content Adaptive Brightness Control (CABC) on supported devices, where you can see these settings on the Settings > System > Display page.

At a glance regarding this improvement, users can now adjust brightness via Settings > System > Display under “Brightness & color” and via a drop-down menu with 3 options, namely Off, Always, and “On Battery Only”.

For battery-powered devices such as laptops and 2-in-1s, the default is “On Battery Only”. On desktop PCs, it is disabled by default.

Apart from that, there are also a number of additional improvements that are the same as in Windows Insider Canary, including the presence of an improvement to the Microsoft Store (22303.1401.x), which includes users being able to install apps directly from search results.

Then the presence of a new design when buying applications and games in the Microsoft Store.

And the last is the presence of a new UX for the In App Ratings Dialog.

In addition, there is a new settings page for Wheel Devices on the Windows 11 Settings page.

Fixes and Improvements

In addition to the things that are in the spotlight above, there are a number of improvements that are also presented in this build, which include:

  • Fixed an issue that was causing voice access to take some time to turn on after using the wake-up command.
  • We fixed the issue causing an error dialog to pop up when clicking on the “Open File Location” command.
  • We fixed the issue causing no action to occur when clicking on the ‘Remove from list’ command.
  • Made a change to help improve performance when using a high report rate mouse while gaming. As a reminder, if you have gaming performance feedback, please follow these steps to file actionable feedback.
  • Improved the performance of search within Settings.
  • Fixed an issue from the last flight where Microsoft Edge tabs would show when doing ALT + Tab even if Settings > System > Multitasking was set to “Don’t show tabs”.

Of the several improvements above, one of the most noticeable is the presence of improvements to ALT + TAB where the combination key behavior still displays the Microsoft Edge tab even when the Settings > System > Multitasking page has been set to “Don’t show Tabs”.

With this new build, Windows Insider Dev users can now experience a more stable system compared to the previous build, although indeed, there are still some other bugs such as for example when you press the Bing button in the Search Box which has problems and sometimes doesn’t appear.

So, let’s get straight to it, for you Windows Insider users, you can go directly to the Settings > Windows Update > Check for Updates page, then download and install Windows 11 Insider Build 23424 which is available there.
