In May 2023, it was announced that finally Microsoft decide to give free 5 GB of VPN bandwidth on Microsoft Edge Chromium, where previously the bandwidth provided was 15 GB which seems according to Microsoft the amount is too large to give to users.
So, at first, this change was only a trial and was only available on Microsoft Edge Canary, but two months later, right in July 2023, Microsoft finally officially changed the bandwidth capacity to 5 GB on Microsoft Edge Chromium, and even Microsoft has updated official page regarding how to use Microsoft Edge Secure Network to secure the user’s browsing process.
A bandwidth capacity of 5 GB per month may be enough for some people, but of course for most users this amount is too little to use. However, keep in mind that Microsoft clarified that Edge Secure Network (Edge VPN) is not intended for use with streaming services, wherein the browser will automatically redirect streaming and video content outside of the secure network to ensure users’ bandwidth limits don’t run out quickly.
