After quite a lot of rumors saying that Samsung will start replacing Google with Bing because the collaboration between the two companies is getting stronger, it seems that these rumors are just rumors because Samsung is based on reports from The Wall StreetJournal revealed that Samsung is not going to change anything regarding their current policy.
Little information, previously reported by The New York Times that Samsung was impressed with Microsoft’s efforts to add Generative AI to the program search engines they via Bing Chat, where as a result of the report, Google’s stock price had fallen 2.5% on the same day.
However, after the report was published, Google apparently has what is called a MADA or Mobile Application Distribution Agreement which basically states that every company smartphones those who want to install the Google Play Store must also implement Google Search as a search engine default on their Smartphone.
Now with this agreement, it can be said that Samsung cannot just replace Google with Bing because they could lose the rights to the Google Play Store on their devices, and even though currently the collaboration between Samsung and Microsoft is getting stronger due to the integration of Phone Link and also several Microsoft services which is exclusive to Samsung devices, change default search engine Google with Bing would be very hard to do.
