For Steam Client users on Linux OS, some time ago there was quite a lot of discussion that the Steam client sometimes encounters crashes when hardware acceleration from Nvidia running.

This issue itself should have been fixed months ago, but unfortunately some users are still having the same problem. But friends, did you know that with updates steam client beta which was released some time ago, Steam revealed that the fix has really been presented, here are some of the release notes for Linux.

  • Fixed a crash when steam windows were closed with HW acceleration enabled on Nvidia GPUs.
  • Re-enabled HW acceleration by default for Nvidia GPUs.
  • Fixed Steam Linux Runtime compatibility tools not being installed to support a title in some cases.

So, if by chance you are one of the users who encounters this problem, you can join and use it steam client beta which you can download through the application steam client > settings > account > beta participation.

For those of you who are curious about what’s presented in the latest Steam Client Beta, you can see the official announcement page from Steam on the page following.

By updating the Steam Client application to the Beta version, it is hoped that the problem can be resolved, but if it doesn’t, it’s better for users to wait official release of the latest Steam Client application which is expected to be released in the future.
