One of the new features of PowerToys that may have been long awaited is the presence of Registry Preview, which with this tool will make it easier for users to view the contents of the registry before merging with the user’s system.

This feature has long been reported to be in development, but in PowerToys version 0.69 which was released three days ago, Microsoft has finally officially released this feature for users to use.

And like other tools including PowerRename, this Registry Preview will be integrated with the Context Menu in either Windows 10 or Windows 11 when the user selects a file with the .reg format.

And when opened, the user will be directed to the Registry Preview view as shown in the following image.

And like in the image above, on the left side of the pane, we can edit registry keys directly, where this ability will be very suitable for those of you who like to edit and manipulate registry keys in Windows 10 or Windows 11.

Even so, unfortunately this feature currently does not have advanced editing capabilities such as typing value type suggestions, syntax highlighting, and something like that guys.

Interesting, isn’t it? So for you PowerToys users, it’s a good idea to immediately update the application to PowerToys 0.69, guys, you can get this version either through the Microsoft Store page or GitHub.

Apart from that, there are a number of highlights from this version which include:

  • Fix issue causing folders to not be removed on uninstall.
  • Fix the issue of sampling timing and grid issue causing the Color Picker to sample the color of its own grid.
  • Fix window cycling on multiple monitors issue in FancyZones
  • File Locksmith now has a context menu icon.
  • Mouse Jump – Simulate mouse input events on mouse jump in addition to cursor move.
  • Mouse Jump – Improve performance of screenshot generation.
  • Show PowerRename in directory background context menu.
  • Fix the PowerRename crash on clicking Select/UnselectAll checkbox while showing only files to be renamed.
  • Improve PowerRename performance on populating Renamed items when many items are being renamed.
  • Fix PowerToys Run crashing caused by thumbnail image loading.
  • and more.

What do you think about this new ability? Do you like it? comment below guys.
