In accordance with the schedule set by Microsoft, today or rather early last night, Microsoft released a cumulative update for all versions of Windows that they still support and one of them is Windows 11 21H2 and 22H2.

Now regarding this, Windows 11 21H2 itself will get an update (KB5023698) which will change the OS Build to 22000.1696, while Windows 11 22H2 will get an update (KB5023706) which will change the OS Build to 22621.1413.

In this upgrade, especially for Windows 11 22H2, the update that is presented brings the same improvements as update KB5022913 or Moment 2 which was released last month via Preview Update, so with that for those of you who didn’t download and install the update yesterday, you are now automatically already got Windows 11 22H2 Moment 2 update.

"This security update includes improvements that were a part of update KB5022913 (released February 28, 2023). " ungkap Microsoft.

As for Windows 11 21H2, this update also brings a number of the same improvements as the KB5022905 preview update which was released at the end of last February, where apart from that, for both Windows 11 21H2 and 22H2, there are a number of additional improvements which include fixes for the following two things:

  • This update implements phase three of Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) hardening. See KB5004442. After you install this update, you cannot turn off the changes using the registry key.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects a computer account and Active Directory. When you reuse an existing computer account to join an Active Directory domain, joining fails. This occurs on devices that have installed Windows updates dated October 11, 2022 or later. The error message is, “Error 0xaac (2732): NERR_AccountReuseBlockedByPolicy: ‘An account with the same name exists in Active Directory. Re-using the account was blocked by security policy.’” For more information, see KB5020276.

Apart from that, unfortunately, not much information is presented in the release note of this update, considering that this update is an improvement from the Preview update that was released at the end of February 2023.

Now for you Windows 11 users, you can get this update via the Settings > Windows Update > Check for Updates page.
