If you remember, back in October 2022, Microsoft Confirms Performance Bug in Windows 11 22H2 When Copying Fileswhere this problem does not only occur in file explorer of course, but almost all applications including third party apps such as robocopy.
Now regarding the bug, recently Ned Pyle The Microsoft Tech Community page has updated its post, where the fix has finally been prepared for launch, including now being tested on Windows 11 Insider Dev Build 25267 which was released yesterday.
“An updated version of this preview fix is now available in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25267. This version “Fixed an issue where restartable copies of a file (for example using robocopy) with alternate data streams were hanging frequently in the latest Dev Channel builds.” The final fix for Windows 11 22H2 production computer will come in a normal monthly Cumulative Update through Windows Update once validated in Insider builds. “ Said Ned Pyle in the update on December 14, 2022 yesterday.
Also, if we recall, the fix has actually started rolling out in the Insider Dev Build Windows 11 Insider Dev Build 25252but unfortunately it may still be unstable and not rolled out to all users until it is finally re-released in the current latest Build 25267.
Meanwhile, fixes will also be prepared for Windows 11 22H2 which will be released through a monthly cumulative update which is expected to be released in January 2023, or at the earliest it may be released in preview updates in the next two weeks (if there are no year-end holidays at Microsoft).
So, for those of you who had a problem yesterday kernel copy bug Here, you just have to wait cumulative updates and fixes for the build you’re currently on, but if you’re a Windows 11 21H2 user, the bug shouldn’t be available in that version.
