Now regarding this news, it turns out that Microsoft immediately moved quickly to overcome the bugs and vulnerabilities of the Snipping Tool in Windows 11, which in the updated version 11.2302.20.0 and Snip and Sketch in the Windows 10 version 10.2008.3001.0the issue has been fixed.
This issue is also marked with (CVE-2023-28303), of which there are several details highlighted by Microsoft, which include:
- The user must take a screenshot, saved it to a file, modify the file (for example, crop it), and then save the modified file to the same location.
- The user must open an image in Snipping Tool, modify the file (for example, crop it), and then save the modified file to the same location.
With this fix, all users are advised to update the Snip & Sketch application in Windows 10 and the Snipping Tool in Windows 11, where updates can be obtained via the Microsoft Store page on the OS you are using.
