Discussing about the browser, I used to try Ungoogled Chromium which is an alternative to Google Chrome which completely removes the Google telemetry and services included in the Google Chrome browser.

So if you are currently looking for a browser that also relies on privacy like Ungoogled Chromium but you want to use the same version as Firefox, then there is one that is quite interesting for us to discuss, namely LibreWolf.

Yep, LibreWolf is an alternative browser to Firefox which has better Privacy, Security and user freedom goals, even after a few days I tried it, I think this browser is better than Waterfox which is the same as an alternative to Firefox too.

Operating System Installation and Compatibility

For the installation itself here I tried LibreWolf on my old laptop with Windows 11 Pro (Tiny11) OS, while the installation steps themselves are quite general, where for Windows we just have to open the installer and install it as usual, while for Ubuntu (or other Debian-based OS) , we have to install it manually with the steps described in the page following.

Meanwhile, for operating system compatibility, LibreWolf supports almost all systems, including Windows, several Linux distributions and also Mac.

But unfortunately for Mobile both Android and iOS, it’s not currently available.

First Views and Impressions

When I first opened the app, it looked exactly like Firefox, but there are a number of differences that are sure to be highlights and the advantages of the LibreWolf browser, guys, one of which is integration DuckDuckGo which is present by default.

DuckDuckGo itself is search engines priority privacy where besides the view of search engines it’s very simple, we can modify its appearance freely, and of course no data is stored on the DuckDuckGo server included tracking and others like in other general search engines.

On the Settings page, if we examine further, besides DuckDuckGo there are search engines Searx And Qwant which also prioritizes user privacy, there is no Google, and Bing here, so that’s a good thing if you don’t like Online Tracking from these general Search Engines.

In general, from what I saw when I first opened LibreWolf, the appearance of this browser is indeed very similar to Firefox because of course once again this application is an alternative to Firefox which is also being developed by Firefox (for the LibreWolf project, you can see it on the GitLab page following), so in my opinion there is nothing special in terms of appearance, except for features, LibreWolf provides better privacy guarantees because there are several reliable features which will be explained in the following points.

Main Features

For the features presented by LibreWolf itself, there are several mainstays and of course more towards maintaining privacy, such as No Telemetry which includes adware, and other annoyances Private Search relies on DuckDuckGo and other Search Engines like Qwant And SearxPowered built-in adblock uBlock Origin, Enhanced Privacy including delete cookies and website data by default when the LibreWolf application is closed, fast updates based on the Firefox release cycle, and of course LibreWolf is OpenSource so you can participate in developing this browser.

For other features, you can see a complete list on the page following.

Besides that, on the Settings page of LibreWolf there is also an interesting addition, where we can still connect sync with firefox sync through the Firefox account that we have, just activate the Enable Firefox Sync option available on the Settings page.

Apart from that, there are also options to set up WebGL and Fingerprinting on this page.

As for the Extensions themselves, we can still install Firefox Extensions either from files that we can install manually, or download Extensions directly from the page https://addons.mozilla.org.

So regarding Extensions, I don’t think there is a problem, where we can still install all available and needed Extensions, for example in my case, the Extensions that I need include BitWarden and Poper Blocker, both of which can be installed without any problems at all.

Apart from that, of the many features presented in LibreWolf, what I like the most is the removal of several Firefox features that I don’t like and have never used, such as for example, autoplay media, search suggestions in omnibox / search bar, Mozilla VPN ads, FirefoxView and Pocket which I have never touched at all as a Firefox user.

So with that LibreWolf really became the Firefox of my dreams, of course I used to use WaterFox before, but because the update that was presented seemed slower, I used to go back to Firefox, but in LibreWolf, it seemed as if all the weaknesses of WaterFox could be overcome.

performance

For the performance of LibreWolf, I think it’s a little faster than Firefox, this is because Firefox has more features and services in it, in normal use, three extensions are active, and also only opens two websites. librewolf And winpoints, the use of Memory/RAM in Windows 11 that I use is relatively small and minimal.

Other than that, for browsing performance itself, I think it’s the same, except that because LibreWolf already comes with uBlock Origin, opening some websites feels faster, considering that uBlock Origin itself blocks ads and on those websites.

How to Get LibreWolf to Use Dark Mode

If in Firefox, we can set Dark Mode easily, in LibreWolf, we have to turn it off ResistFingerprinting on the Settings > LibreWolf page, because if not, then we can’t set Dark mode.

disabled ResistFingerprinting on the about:preferences#librewolf page

Conclusion

For the past few days I have been using LibreWolf for my daily browser, I really like this browser, it is like this is my dream Firefox, which from the features and appearance, it is simpler than Mozilla Firefox, because in LibreWolf we are not presented mozilla VPN ads, and even Pocket which I never use at all.

As for the advantages, that’s all possible, where LibreWolf relies heavily on privacy by presenting a number of additional features, including changing the default search engine, options for setting fingerprinting, and others.

As for the drawbacks, in my opinion this browser is not only available on Mobile Devices, because if there were, of course I would use this browser on the iOS and Android that I have.

Then is this browser worth using? the answer is of course very feasible, especially if you want to use Mozilla Firefox but with additional features that prioritize privacy, especially if you don’t like Firefox View, Pocket and Mozilla VPN ads, then you really have to try LibreWolf.

LibreWolf vs WaterFox which is better?, while using both, I prefer LibreWolf overall.

So, those are my brief reviews about LibreWolf which I have been using for almost a week to replace Mozilla Firefox on Ubuntu 22.10 and Tiny11 which I use, of course this review is only based on my experience, opinion and personal opinion, so maybe you will get a good experience. different when trying this browser.

Have you tried the LibreWolf browser, guys? comment below and give your thoughts and opinions. And one more thing, thanks to the readers Yandhikabecause thanks to the comments I intend to review this browser.
