How to prevent Microsoft Edge Chromium from creating a desktop shortcut after the update is complete

Every time Microsoft Edge Chromium finishes updating, it usually suddenly creates a desktop shortcuts automatically on the Desktop, for example as shown in the following image:

Well looks messy right?, well there looks there shortcuts Microsoft Edge Chromium and Microsoft Edge Chromium Canary which always appear after the update process is complete, even if I delete it, if there is a new update, later shortcuts it reappears.

Then can this be prevented? answering this question, it seems that we can prevent Microsoft Edge Chromium from creating a Desktop Shortcut After the Update is Complete by using a few tricks and modifications in the Registry Editor guys, and if you are curious, here we summarize the steps.

Step 1. First, please open the Registry Editor.

Step 2. Next navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftEdgeUpdate

If it’s not there, right-click on the section Microsoft then choose New > Key name pleaseEdgeUpdate“.

Step 3. in section EdgeUpdate it, please right-click again, select New > Dword (32-bit) Value, then give nameCreateDesktopShortcutDefault“.

Make sure Value Data is in value 0, and when it’s finished, later if there is a new update, Microsoft Edge Chromium will no longer automatically generate desktop shortcuts in Windows that you are using again.
