In the midst of the progress of Bing Chat which is getting more sophisticated and smarter, maybe users forget about one extraordinary entity that used to be the main highlight in Windows 10, Cortana, a digital assistant that is expected to help users do many things, including making schedules, and even shutting down Windows 10. only with the help of voice.
But over time, Cortana seemed to fail and even be abandoned, starting from the removal of integration from Windows 10, until finally the Cortana application itself got worse because of its limitations.
And regarding this, recently reported from Financial Times In an article focusing on Amazon’s big hopes with Aleza, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadela mentions that current digital assistants including Cortana, Google Assistant and Siri are said to be “stupid as a rock”.
"They were all dumb as a rock." ungkap Satya Nadela "Whether it’s Cortana or Alexa or Google Assistant or Siri, all these just don’t work. We had a product that was supposed to be the new front-end to a lot of [information] that didn’t work.” lanjutnya.
This is because the Digital Assistant still has more shortcomings when compared to AI, especially Bing Chat, as stated by Satya Nadela. So with that in mind, Microsoft is now shifting its strategy to generative AI programs like Bing Chat in hopes it will outperform Cortana itself.
Now regarding this, later on March 16 2023, Microsoft will hold an event called “The Future of Work With AI” which will most likely introduce more functions and integration of Bing Chat from their product.
Future Cortana?
Maybe in the future Cortana will completely disappear and be completely abandoned by Microsoft, but there are lots of users who hope that Microsoft integrates Cortana with Bing Chat technology, but of course once again that’s just a hollow hope that might never happen.
