Google Develops ‘Genesis’ AI, AI to Generate News Articles!

Apart from developing Bard, Google was also recently reported to be developing a new AI which they named ‘Genesis’ where this AI is said to be able to produce news articles and reportedly can revolutionize the way news is produced.

Genesis itself reportedly uses “current events details” and other information to produce news copy. Where journalists can use Genesis to help them write articles and free them to focus on other tasks, such as reporting and the editing process.

Meanwhile, according NY Times report (via Neowin), Google has submitted Genesis to several major news organizations, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post. And it says Genesis can produce “high-quality, factual news articles” at a fraction of the cost of traditional journalism.

Concerns about the Use of AI in Journalism

This technology would be really cool, but unfortunately there are a lot of concerns about the use of AI in Journalism, where some people are concerned that this ‘Genesis’ could lead to the automation of journalism work and that it could be used to spread misinformation.

But on the other hand, Google is committed to using Genesis responsibly, where Genesis will be used to complement and not replace human journalists. In addition, Google also revealed that this new AI will be subject to the same editorial standards as other articles.

Genesis AI is currently still in the testing phase, other than that there are no additional details and no official release date has been announced. In addition, due to the limited information available, it can be concluded that it is still too early to say that AI genesis will impact the future of journalism.
