Recently, Microsoft announced that one of its services, namely the Translator feature, is available in Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services has received an interesting improvement namely the ability to translate PDF files.
Reporting from the Microsoft page and at the same time for those of you who don’t know, Microsoft has added the Translate feature to Azure services since last year, and this is one of the Enterprise-class features that quite a lot of users like.
Of course, by adding the ability to Translate PDF Documents, the Translate feature in Azure will automatically increase. Microsoft itself notes Document Translation service now has the following capabilities.
- to identify whether the PDF document contains scanned image content or not,
- to route PDFs containing scanned image content to an OCR engine internally to extract text,
- to reconstruct the translated content as regular text PDF while retaining the original layout and structure.
Meanwhile, this feature works with 110 different languages and dialects, with additional features scannng new it supports 68 source language and 87 target language. Microsoft has promised to add support for more in the future.
