6 Ways to Fix Troubled Action Center in Windows 11

With the release of Windows 11, Microsoft has redesigned the user experience for using the Action Center. But unfortunately, it’s still under development and there are still some old issues found in Windows 10 — sone of them is when Action Center stops responding or until it fails to open.

Well, this time WinPoin will provide several ways to overcome this problem. For those of you who are curious, you can follow some of the following tips:

1. Restart Windows Explorer

Windows Explorer is an important process that provides the user interface for the Desktop, Taskbar, Start menu, File Explorer, as well as the Action Center. So, if the Action Center doesn’t respond until it doesn’t even open, restarting the Windows Explorer process will help.

To do so, follow the steps below:

• Open Task Manager.
• On the Processes tab, look for Windows Explorer. If you have found it, just right click and select restart.

2. Run SFC and DISM Scan

Corrupt or missing system files may break certain features in Windows or may cause the system to not respond. In such a case, running SFC (or System File Checker) as well as DISM can help you repair those corrupt system files.

3. Re-register Action Center

If the problem persists, you can use PowerShell to re-register Action Center in Windows 11. For those who don’t know how, you can follow the steps below:

• On icon search typing windows powershell and click on Run as Administrator.
• Copy the following command:

Get-AppxPackage | % { Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppxManifest.xml" -verbose }

• After running the above command, restart your PC and after that, Action Center will start working again.

4. Tweak Registry Files

Registry Editor is a powerful tool that allows you to make system-level changes in Windows. If the Action Center is still having issues and won’t open, you can use the following registry trick to fix it.

However, before you proceed, make sure you have backed up all Registry files.

• Press Windows key + R and type Regedit
• In the Registry Editor window, type the following address in the address bar and press Enter.

• Inside the Windows key, find the Explorer key.
  *You’ll have to generate your own key if you can’t find an existing one. For that, right-click on the Windows key, open the New menu, and select Key. Name it Explorer.
• Right-click on the Explorer key, go to the New menu and select DWORD Value (32-bit). Name it DisableNotificationCenter.
• Double click on the newly created DWORD, set its value to 0 (Zero) and press OK.
• After that, restart your PC and check if this helps Action Center work again.

5. Run Disk Cleanup

Old temporary files on your PC can also affect Windows processes and cause anomalies. Therefore, you can quickly delete temporary files using the Disk Cleanup utility.

• On icon search type Disk Cleanup and press Enter
• After that, select your primary drive and click OK
• Under Files to delete, use the checkboxes to select a temporary file.
• Then, click OK. Select Delete Files when prompted.

6. Perform a System Restore or Reinstall Windows

If the problem still persists, maybe the only way is to restore the system using system restore or you can reinstall your Windows so that various problems on your PC disappear and feel the sensation of the old PC feeling new. ️
